As the Halloween is just around the corner, all of the fashionistas are busy finding the perfect outfit & accessories for their big Halloween parties. So today we would like to show you some of our favorite designer looks that will make you look scarily fabulous this Halloween!

The word itself, “Halloween” actually has its origins in the Catholic Church. It comes from a contracted corruption of All Hallows Eve. November 1, “All Hollows Day” (or “All Saints Day”), is a Catholic day of observance in honor of saints. But, in the 5th century BC, in Celtic Ireland, summer officially ended on October 31. The holiday was called Samhain (sow-en), the Celtic New year.

When you walk into any department stores or designer boutiques, here are oceans of luxury goods that flooded the stores with flashy, flamboyant, in your face “I am a Rich Bitch” kinda clothing, handbags & accessories …. Which I am a big fan of some of them! Just like some of my favorite designer’s creations such as Christian Lacroix, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace. But ! There is a part of me (maybe I have a split personality haha!) that I’ve always appreciate the “Hidden Luxury” details that is just luxurious without letting everyone know you’ve paid thousands of dollars for it and ONLY you know it’s supreme quality, workmanships & details that has goes into making the piece of art.

In the oceans of handbag that’s available in the store, it’s hard to find a handbag that’s appropriate for a “Lady” & can be carry to any occasions. Some are just over the top biker girl looks with spikes & chains, or just way too sexy and glittery and makes you look like an expensive hooker haha! So when I saw this Dolce & Gabbana Cervo deer skin & Python Doctor Satchel Bag, it screams “ That’s the kind of handbag every Lady should have” !

There is a part of me have always love the look of the antique, homey, comfy look of the handmade crochet clothing, bags, napkins, scarves … it gives you that forgotten old world charm and the joyful memories of visiting grandma’s attic, finding treasures. I think there’s just not enough crochet in the world of fashion! it’s all handmade, just like Haute Couture!

Even the celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, Dita Von Teese, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kylie Minogue and the star of the movie “Twilight” Kristen Stewart are all crazy about the Dolce & Gabbana Miss Sicily crochet bags!

All I can say is Bravo, Sarah Burton! After the tragic death of the super talented (and my favorite designer) Alexander McQueen, everyone is wondering what is going to happen to this legendary fashion power house, who shocked and awed us season after season of McQueen’s sometimes dark & gothic glamorous creations. Sarah Burton has worked beside McQueen for over 15 years and in her first major fashion after taken over the house of McQueen, she has successfully pay a homage to the signature McQueen looks & tradition and a sense of herself.

As we all remembered that McQueen is famous for his beautiful sharp, structured cuts in his garments, from shoulders, to the hemlines, it is glamorous with a masculine undertone, but with Sarah Burton’s debut collection, I feel that maybe because of her gender as a woman, it has played a big role on this new collection. Start from the very beginning of the show, you can see the usually sharp and arch upwards shoulder line on the signature McQueen tailored jackets, the shoulder line has been slashed open, so it drapes down a little also the ruffled details on the lapel and hem are cut in raw edges, it totally soften the McQueen signature structured look and adds a bit more femininity touch to it.

Also as most of Alexander McQueen’s inspirations are often dark, almost a little uncomfortable feeling to it, but she adds her own twist, maybe I say a more “positive” energy in her inspiration …. A pagan, earth-mother spirit, flower child feel to this new collection which you can see from various of floral or leaf pattern laser cut out leather pants & dresses, white cotton canvas tailor jackets & pants with raw edges, raffia-trimmed brocade, butterflies motifs, feathers to the basket weaves hair detail….. all gives a feeling a loving mother-earth, rebirth kind of positive feeling to it. I just LOVE this new collection!

We’ve all loved Prada’s clean, minimal, muted color palette designs … but this season, ready for a totally different look! This season’s theme was “Minimal Baroque”. Combining the shape & cuts of the hospital scrubs to 17th century baroque paintings & sculptures (gold swirly motifs plus cherubs the whole nine yard… ) and if you think that’s “Busy enough”? they’ve also added in a splash of the exotic tropical feel Carmen Miranda & Josephine Baker by those chunky embroideries of dancing monkies, bananas in a cartoonish / abstract kinda way.

I have always love the punk rock street chic look! And who can do a better job to achieve this look in a high fashion way? Balmain’s Christophe Decarnin of course! In this week’s Paris fashion week, it is full of colorful & cheerful collection, then it all went “Au Revoir” on the 2nd day fashion week schedule when Balmain started his fabulous show.
